2020 competitions coming soon…

2019 Competitions – Dare to Dream

What does this mean?

Within every individual is the ability and opportunity to do great things. Daring to dream and having the courage to pursue those dreams is the first step towards attaining your goals. Let us all have the ability to think beyond reality and to wish for a better future; to find the courage and discipline to make those dreams come true.

In 2019 Celebrate Mooroolbark would like to encourage and inspire people to pursue their dreams and to recognise local groups and individuals who have pursued their dreams or inspired others. We want to share the stories of the innovators and risk-takers who inspire us. It could be a teacher or a caregiver who encourages you; a local trader who provides outstanding service or a child with a unique talent; a community group working to improve the town or helping others achieve their goals; someone you admire or who you are proud to know, those unsung heroes who might not even realise they are making a difference to your life, anyone who is following their dreams or helping you to follow yours!

There are five competitions this year. Click on the links below to be taken to the entry forms and more information on each one.

  • Produce your own mini sci-fi on your phone and enter the Short Film Comp.
  • Come along dressed for the future! Enter the parade with friends, a community group, school, business and take out the best-dressed prize!
  • Imagine a fictionalised future, interview someone about their vision or research the profession of a scientific field for your writing competition entry.
  • Get hands-on and creative with found objects and materials, building your own invention for the future and enter it into the recycled sculpture competition;
  • Dance up a storm in Red Earth UnEarthed
  • Take a chance at the Lucky Straws Stall on the day. $2 each or 3 for $5, there’s a 1 in 5 chance of winning a prize! All funds raised go towards the running costs of the festival.
