Put Your Dreams into Action

Making your dreams come true sometimes takes courage, taking yourself out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself to do new things.

Celebrate Mooroolbark festival provides the following opportunities that may be your first step in the right direction!

Please make sure you check individual deadlines at the links provided for each area, to avoid disappointment.

Celebrate Mooroolbark Street Parade

Celebrate Mooroolbark Street Parade

Enter your organisation/group into the Street Parade – join classic cars, marching bands, roving performers, school and community groups in your finest outfits and costumes to parade down Brice Avenue at the beginning of the Saturday festivities.

How: Register for the parade here.

Hold a stall to sell your artworks, fundraise for your kindergarten, provide information

about your Not For Profit organisation or promote your new small business. Put your face out there and meet people!

How? Stall applications are accepted here.

Perform! For talented folk who love to entertain through music, dance, acting, recitals,

circus, magic, contorting, snorting, transporting… really, anything but thwarting! (As long as it’s family-friendly, of course) Enter the Red Earth UnEarthed competition, enjoy time on the big stage and try your luck at picking up a cash prize!

How? Fill in the Red Earth UnEarthed entry form here.

Sculpt and build your best creations using found and recycled materials to enter the Recycled Sculpture Competition. Take those grand artistic visions and turn them into reality, then see them on display in an exhibition inside The Terrace Shopping Centre. You may even be awarded a $100 cash prize!

How? Check the criteria and sculpture delivery details here.

Put pen to paper and enter the Writing Competition. We are interested to read your interpretations of the theme Dare to Dream. We know there are local people who aren’t afraid to reach for the sky, but is there a technology or invention that has changed your life for the better? An idea or special cause that you support and want to involve your fellow community members? What inspires you? Who inspires you? We look forward to reading your entries!

How? Details and guidelines on how to enter are here.

Is video your preferred method of storytelling? Take out your camera, smartphone, GoPro, etc. and start filming! Details of the Celebrate Mooroolbark Film Competition can be found here, with more info on the way shortly.

Last, but certainly not least, volunteer for your local community and join the festival team! See here for details.

Our biggest program to date

Without a doubt, this is the biggest and broadest program we’ve put together yet for Celebrate Mooroolbark festival. So we thought we’d share with you some personal picks on how some of our team members would spend their day at the festival.

From Ash, Active Living Hub Coordinator and part of the Publicity Team:

I would absolutely get down and practice your handballing with Mooroolbark Auskick at 11am and be wowed by the talented Yarra Heights Dance Academyat 1:45 at the Active Living Hub! The Active Living Hub is a new addition this year and a fantastic way to get involved with the local sporting and fitness groups in our wonderful community.

After that I’m going to head down to the Youth Stage and see all the amazing talent that our community has to offer. In sticking with our sustainable theme, the Youth Stage is being powered by biodegradable fuel generators from Green Power Solutions!

For more details on all the wonderful programs on offer tomorrow, check out our program page here. Many stalls will also run free activities, not to mention the Scout Bridge on the ridge!

See you all tomorrow!!
