Film Comp

Celebrate Mooroolbark’s annual short film competition this year follows the festival’s theme, ‘Dare to Dream!’.

Whether you are new to filmmaking recording on a smartphone or have some experience up your sleeve, everyone is welcome to participate!

We encourage video entries to be based on the theme.

This could include a focus on local groups and individuals who contribute to the Mooroolbark community. We want to share the stories of the innovators and risk-takers who inspire us. It could be a shop owner who is always welcoming and friendly, or a business that operates according to the principles of mutual profitability (concerned for both the wellbeing of the community and the environment). A volunteer organisation who is giving of themselves for the safety of our community or helping others achieve their goals. A child with a unique gift of sharing and consideration for others. A dedicated teacher or mentor who motivates you, or a caregiver who encourages and supports you.

Someone you admire or who you are proud to know. Those unsung heroes who may not have actually set out  to improve the lives of others, and might not even realise they are making a difference.

We are interested to hear your interpretations of the theme. We know there are local people who aren’t afraid to reach for the sky, but is there a technology or invention that has changed your life for the better? An idea or special cause that you support and want to involve your fellow community members? What inspires you? Who inspires you? We look forward to hearing your ideas!

Your video can be any style you wish, may it be a documentary, interview, animation, a music video (must follow copyright laws – no unlicensed material) – anything you can think of!

Submissions will be judged and screened at the Celebrate Mooroolbark festival on Saturday the 23rd of March, 2019.

Prizes will be awarded to 3 categories: 13 & under, Open Category and Peoples Choice.
